Mens Shed Barbeque - Tuesday 19th March

This coming Tuesday our shed, in conjunction with AMSA, will be holding a social BBQ and are inviting sheds and members in the vicinity to come and have a "Snag and a Chinwag!"

The BBQ will give us all the opportunity to interact, engage with each other and share stories and ideas. As representatives from AMSA will be in attendance so you will also have the opportunity to share your thoughts, how you are progressing and discuss your current and future needs.

We have also invited and encouraged the participation of our local and Federal Members , as well as local government representatives to come along and see first-hand the work of the Men's Sheds in our region.

And the snags are on us!

Date: Tuesday 19th March 11am ~ 2pm

written by the Gilgandra and District Drought Alliance.

Successful 2nd Garage Sale on March 2

Our second regular Garage Sale went well with plenty of shoppers and some keen people interested in the shed. We also proudly held a working exhibit for the Coffs Harbour Model Railway Club.

Bellingen Men's Shed Visit

Martin and Tom from the Bellingen Men's Shed visited the shed to check out the Garage Sale and Shop and talk to Robert about the future of the local sheds. They got the royal tour, a cup of coffee each and chatted to our Treasurer John, our Shed Manager Robert, and myself about the history of the shed, and where we are heading in the future.

Interesting Visitors

This is Merv's car. It is a 1959 Morris Minor, which Merv has owned since 1983. It has always been in registration, and was first sold in Canberra. The excellent condition of the car is attributed to a panel beater and some money.

The motor is an original block, 4 cyclinder, 957 cc engine. The head has been replaced along with the regular parts to maintain it's great condition.

Tony and Ken take a keen interest in Merv's car. The Morris sat there for over 2 hours as Merv proudly showed his car to all who were interested.

Model Railway Exhibit

Members of the Coffs Harbour Model Railway Club built an working exhibit during the Garage Sale.

It kept children of all ages amused, expecially the older ones.

Barbeque area gets a dressing

Many hands make light work...

Shedders banded together to work on the barbeque area. Peter Jackson wanted a better and safer area for the barbeque / relaxation area so he set about organising to fill-in and level the area, and top with artificial turf. Council came to the rescue with  a couple of loads of crusher dust. Mick Maley overheard that Peter was looking for some turf, so came forward with a few rolls of pre-loved turf that came from the hockey fields. The turf had been in storage for a couple of years and kept for temporary or emergency use, but had not been used, so it was donated to the shed.

Members worked early in March to level the stone, pack it, and lay the turf. Special thanks to all involved.

Watch the video to see how it all happened.

Many thanks to Coates Hire for the free use of the "Packer machine..

Donation from Mother Nature's

Mother Nature's fruit market unfortunately has shut down. As part of the demolition the Shed was able to grab this display, which was dismantled so the timber can be used in future projects.

Many thanks to the owners for this donation.

Alan's Doll Houses

Alan Larkin loves making doll houses, and let's face it, he's very good at it. Currently Alan is recreating a doll house from a picture, for a Shed Client. It's not the same as his usual full timber house, but is nonetheless a brilliant work piece.
